FROME Town Council has pledged its support to a new project to create safe sustainable cycle routes from Frome to Warminster and Westbury, via the village of Chapmanslade.
The project is being organised by ‘Connecting Chapmanslade’, a group of cycling enthusiasts from Chapmanslade. Their aim is to utilise existing rights of way and to create a passable, safe route for cyclists, avoiding dangerous roads wherever possible, including the busy A36 and A3098.
At last month’s town council meeting, following a presentation by group member, Adam Oakley, councillor Rich Ackroyd described the project as ‘exciting’, whilst fellow councillor, Maxine Crawley, hailed the group as ‘inspiring’.
The group are also in talks with local group Frome’s Missing Links to explore how they can work together, and have also received the support of the Westbury Area Board.
