Sat. 13th April. Evo-Stik Southern Prem. Frome Town 0 Hartley Wintney 1
A lack lustre performance from the Frome side never looked like causing Hartley Wintney any problems, and a 70th minute goal from Steven Duff was enough to effectively relegate Frome, barring a mathematic miracle in the last three games.
This game had an “end of season” look and feel to it right from the start, with Hartley comfortable in mid-table and Frome effectively down. With Frome relying on the odd through ball, while the visitors were much more expansive, the first real chance of the match happened in the 46th minute as Hartley’s Duff almost tapped home, but then laid the ball back to Marley Ridge who brought a good save from Rob Brown low to his right.
Ollie Knowles brought a save from visiting keeper, Chris Harris, just after the restart, but the second half never really got going and the only goal of the match came in the 70th minute as the unlucky Brown spilled a weak shot from Duff into his own net. Apart from a few long shots that rarely troubled the visitors, Frome never looked like getting back on level terms, and the match petered out in front of a very quiet crowd.
