Wales & West Utilities is carrying out a £35,000 project to upgrade the gas pipes in the Frome area.
The work is planned to start on 2nd July for approximately three weeks and is essential to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in the area so that people are safe and warm for generations to come. The investment scheme, which has been planned in partnership with Somerset County Council and Frome Town Council, involves working along the A361 Frome Road in Rode. It has been agreed that the work will be carried out under three-way traffic lights, which will be in place on Frome Road and on the junction of Frome Road and Church Lane. These will be in place 24 hours a day.
Wales & West Utilities Steven Davies, project manager for this gas pipe upgrade work said, “We know that working on roads like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“Most of the gas network is underground and out of sight but it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across Frome and the surrounding areas. Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
