FROME’S Cheese and Grain is staging two music events to support Frome Town Council’s twin town Ukrainian refugee appeal, to be held on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th April. The ‘Big Sing Ukraine fundraiser’ on the 29th will feature over 100 singers, and local musicians are coming together for a night of fundraising entertainment, on Saturday 30th April.
Headlining the Saturday night are The Back Wood Redeemers, a dark country twisted blues band hailing from deepest Somerset. Also on the bill are the local indie band, Mighty One, the 80s post pop punk band, Back of the Bus, the classic punk rockers, The Raggedy Men, the folk-rock musician, Henry Wacey, and DJ Patmandu.
Frome Town Council say, “We have been touched by the plight of Ukraine, and the humanitarian crisis of civilians hoping to escape invasion. Frome Town Council have now been approached by our twin town Rabka-Zdrój, as they prepare to take in refugees.”
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Frome Town Council’s twin town Ukrainian refugee appeal, with special thanks to STAGE2SOUND for supporting the event. Tickets £10 advance (+ service charge) are available from Cheese and Grain. Doors open at 6pm.
Frome Town Council have already pledged £5,000 but it costs £10 per day to accommodate Ukrainian refugees in Rabka and £20 per day including food, so more funds will be needed.

Expect rousing and joyful informal performances from 100+ singers led by local choir leader Caroline Radcliffe, including songs from around the world, through the ages, and a special Ukrainian song. Hei!
