Frome Ukulele Club has donated £1,000 to ‘The Zone’, a young carers group in the town.
‘The Zone’ is the name chosen by the young people themselves for the group that meets fortnightly on a Wednesday at the Park Road Support Centre.
Chair of The Zone, Sue Paxton said, “I am so grateful to the Ukulele Club for their generosity. We stayed to listen to them rehearse at The Cornerhouse and had a really enjoyable evening.
“All the sessions are staffed by a specialised youth work team so the money raised goes to paying staff and paying for the activities that the youngsters enjoy.”
The Zone is a club for any young carers in Frome and for siblings of children with additional needs.
The Zone is a charity started in 2013 as an offshoot of The Pod, by the parents and carers of children with additional needs. The Pod meets at Vallis Youth Centre every Tuesday.
