Frome CC U15s have won the Bath and District Youth League 2014 and stayed unbeaten all season.
After matches against Hinton Charterhouse and Hampset 1 were rained off, Frome kick started the season with a 97 run away win at Hampset 2 on the 12th May. Joe S was agonisingly run out on 99, and he was supported by Aaron W who hit 27 as Frome hit 157-5. In response, Hampset never looked likely as they only reached 60-8 off their 20 overs- Mike W picked up two wickets.
In the next match against Keynsham A at Fromefield Joe hit 65 and Isaac W added 28. Taylor A took 3 wickets, and Arthur H claimed two as Frome successfully defended 134 by 16 runs.
A trip to Timsbury at the start of June saw a 57 run win. Jake B and Isaac W hit 31, while Mike W claimed three wickets and Dan W two. The trip to Keynsham (B) saw Isaac W smash 106 as Frome posted 188-3. Dan W then claimed 3 wickets as Frome won by 72 runs.
Aaron W hit 43 against Midsomer Norton at Fromefield. In this tight encounter, Dan W, Mike W and Alex (who along with Hugo stepped in for this match) were the only wicket takers with one each as Frome won by 13 runs. Joe S hit a great 100 against Purnell, and Ethan C, Tom W and Arthur H claimed two wickets each. The victory margin was 91.
As the season moved into July, Frome played their final away match at Bridlington 2. Jake B hit an unbeaten 77 and Joe S hit 70 not out, while Miles K contributed 18. Ethan cleaned up their opener and then a brace of wickets from Tom W saw Frome winners by 105 runs.
In Frome’s final match of the season against Beck/Rode/NSP, Frome posted their best total of the year: 194-3. Joe yet again hit runs; another hundred went to his name. Isaac W hit 50 not out. Mike W got 3 wickets for just 3 runs off 4 overs! Dan W, Tom W and Taylor A got one each. Aaron W got 2, as the final ball of the season saw the batsmen bowled- a fitting end to a brilliant season, as they won the last game by 98 runs.
