THIS month saw ward administrator Anne Denning retire after working for the NHS for 45 years.
Anne started at St Aldhelm’s Hospital before moving to Frome Victoria Hospital, then Frome Community Hospital. She originally qualified as a staff nurse and in more recent years moved to ward administrator.
“Anne’s experience and depth of knowledge throughout her nursing career has enabled her to work exceptionally in both roles,” says senior ward administrator, Melissa Messenger. “She is extremely organised and goes above and beyond to ensure patients have everything they need and to make things run as smoothly as possible for staff and the ward.
“Known for her strong character, being incredibly kind, caring and supportive and always putting patient care and staff before herself, she had a real presence on the ward which ensured everyone knew where they were. If something needed sorting, Anne was the person to ensure patients’ needs were met. So good in fact that she has been mistaken for matron!
“Friends, family, staff and colleagues old and new gathered to give Anne the send-off she truly deserved.”
