A NEW scheme aimed at building a greener and healthier future for Frome has been launched with the help of National Lottery Funding.
Edventure Frome, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council have kicked-off a new partnership, funded by the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund.
About the partnership, Edventure report, “Over the next two years we will be working together to build a greener, healthier future for Frome. We’re starting by asking ‘What can we do locally to improve our wellbeing, whilst also improving the health of the planet?’
“Projects that create benefits for both a healthy community and healthy environment come in many shapes and sizes. Getting on bikes rather than in cars both reduces our carbon footprint and is good for our health; growing veg can be good for mental health and is greener than buying produce from supermarkets; car sharing can help people make closer friendships and save on petrol; time spent active in nature can reduce our need for more medication.
“Here are three things you can do to get involved:
1. Share an idea or two for how Frome could be made greener and healthier by the people of Frome on our online ideas platform
2. Register for the launch event on April 29th at 12.45pm
3. Ask for support to get an idea you have off the ground
“You can find links more details about these three things on our latest blog: www.edventurefrome.org/blog or by messaging greenhealth@edventurefrome.org.
“Join us at our first public online meeting on April 29th at 12.45 where you can learn more. Before then, our online ideas platform is open to anyone to add and discuss new ideas and existing projects that seek to make Frome a green and healthy place to be.
“As well as creating space for innovative ideas, we will be linking people with new green and healthy opportunities and offering free training from Health Connections Mendip. Electric bikes and help to make homes healthier and warmer are being provided by Frome Town Council and both will soon be available.
“Edventure Frome will be setting up regular events which help people gather to learn new climate-saving skills and connect with others. We are seeking people who want to work with groups to get a green and healthy project or business idea off the ground.
“We provide free start-up mentoring, training, coaching, workspace, meeting rooms and help making connections. Interested? Reach out for support. Check out our latest blog: www.edventurefrome.org/blog for more information.”
