A VARIETY act from Frome sailed through to the next round on ITV’s talent show, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ which was aired on television last weekend.
Ginny Adams and Nelly Fowler, known as Rare Species, impressed the judges with their impersonations of the Queen and Prince Charles.
Unbeknown to the judges, the act was more than just an impersonation. Once the music came on, the pair began a dance-off, much to the delight of the audience and the celebrity judges.
David Walliams said, “Only on this bonkers show would we get something like this. It was a great twist on a dance act.”
Simon Cowell said the act was ‘fun’ and all four judges said yes, sending them through to the next round.
Ginny said, “After the video of us dressed as the Queen and Prince Charles at a street party to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday last year went viral, someone suggested to us that we should go on Britain’s Got Talent. It was quite an amazing experience, we had really good comments from the judges and the audience were laughing – Amanda Holden really played along and called me ma’am when I walked on the stage and curtsied to me.
“It was a long day; we left Frome at 7am and didn’t get home until 1am, but it was a great day. We didn’t have time to be nervous, it was such a whirlwind experience.
“We are both actors but unfortunately bills have to be paid, so it’s not our full-time job, but we would love it to be as it’s our passion. We would love to have a career in comedy and on television, that would be our dream come true. We have lots of different characters to showcase as well, not just the Queen and Prince Charles.
“It was pretty surreal and nerve wracking watching on the television and it was edited quite a lot (they even changed our music) but as one friend said, ‘opening act on Saturday prime time telly is not to be sniffed at!’
“We’ve had great support from friends and family and would love Frome to get behind us as we wait to hear about whether we make it through to the live shows!”
