A local village is set to host its biggest bonfire night yet, bringing the community together for fireworks, a traditional bonfire, food and entertainment.
Buckland Bonfire and Fireworks Night returns on Thursday 5th November, in aid of Freewheelers EV Blood Bike Service.
Entry is free, with a suggested donation of £5 per person. All donations will go to the blood bike service, which provides an out-of-hours, free-of-charge courier service for the NHS using volunteer riders.
During the 12 months to December 2025, the charity completed more than 8,000 deliveries of blood, medical supplies and other essential items.
The event is organised by local volunteers and will take place at The Bell in Buckland Dinham. Gates open at 6pm, with the display starting at 7pm.
Volunteer Ben Flower said, “Buckland Bonfire Night has always been about bringing people together. It takes a huge amount of work behind the scenes from local volunteers but seeing the village and surrounding communities come together makes it worthwhile.
“We also encourage people who might otherwise hold smaller fireworks displays at home to come and join us instead. It allows everyone to enjoy one large organised display, helps reduce the amount of disruption across the village and, importantly, gives us the opportunity to raise money for a fantastic cause.”
Organisers have confirmed the event will take place on Thursday 5th November, rather than the previously advertised date of Friday 6th November.
Visitors are asked not to bring personal fireworks or sparklers. Children must remain supervised and dogs are discouraged because of the noise. Accessible viewing will be available from The Bell Inn car park.
Parking is free. Gates open at 6pm, with the main fireworks display beginning at 7pm.
