A historic platform at Frome Railway Station has been cleared of overgrown weeds as part of a clean-up effort.
Members of the Friends of Frome Station, including Steve Tanner, Julian Quail and John Henderson, joined Network Rail on 9th October to clear vegetation from platform two, improving the station’s appearance.
John said clearing the platform had made the whole station look better and looked forward to more projects about the station’s history.
Harriet Sergent, of Network Rail, said, “It was a real pleasure to join the Friends of Frome Station. Together we made a visible difference to the station environment. We also had the opportunity to chat with passengers which was a great way to share the value of community volunteering. I would encourage anyone interested in getting involved to join this welcoming and dedicated group of volunteers.”
People interested in volunteering at the station can find more information and a contact form at www.southwessexcrp.org.uk.
