Cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) are holding a family fun day at Rook Lane Chapel on Sunday 22nd September from 10am to 3pm, featuring a songwriting workshop with Rocktopus and a storytelling session and book signing with acclaimed children’s author Michelle Robinson.
Fundraising officer Helen White says, “Our events for children and young people always go down really well, so we decided to add a new annual event for families as part of WHY’s 25th anniversary year. Our family fun day is a fantastic way to beat the back-to-school blues and spend quality time with your children while raising funds for WHY. Thanks so much to Tom and Andy from Rocktopus and to the lovely Michelle Robinson for supporting the event and running activities on the day. There will also be stalls hosted by local businesses, craft activities, face painting, a bouncy castle, a raffle and, as always, lots of cake! Thanks also to Rook Lane Chapel for hosting us again.
“Every penny raised will go towards WHY’s free professional counselling service for children and adults who are affected or bereaved by cancer or a life-threatening condition. It will be poignant to be back at Rook Lane with Michelle as we were there with her in October last year celebrating the publication of ‘Only One of Me’, the beautiful book she wrote with Lisa Wells, which has already brought comfort to so many people including the families we work with. Join us to welcome in the autumn and get creative, we hope you have an amazing day.”
WHY’s family fun day is on Sunday 22nd September from 10am to 3pm at Rook Lane Chapel, Bath Street BA11 1DN. Entry is by a suggested donation of £1 per person, with individual charges for some activities. Information about the day will be added to Facebook at www.facebook.com/ events/ 371478723548660/.
