FOLLOWING a 46-year break, Frome Town Hall has welcomed back weddings to the historic building in the centre of Frome.
Frome Town Council (FTC) report, “The last wedding took place in 1974 before the building was repurposed, but with FTC taking residency again back in 2017, it was always the aim to see weddings returning too.
“The civil ceremony of Loren and Brendan took place last Saturday. They had a small, intimate ceremony in the Emma Sheppard room with six guests in attendance. The bride looked radiant alongside her handsome groom, and thankfully the weather held off for some beautiful after-ceremony shots on the Town Hall steps.
“With wedding ceremonies only recently being re-introduced following lockdown measures, there were guidelines to follow to ensure everyone was kept safe during the ceremony, but that did not impact on the sentiment of the day.
“Working with the Somerset Registration Service, Frome Town Hall essentially acts as a registry office. On selected dates throughout the year, both marriages and civil partnerships will be available to take place. The civil ceremonies performed will be non-religious in nature and can be personalised by choosing music and creating bespoke vows making it unique to the couple’s special day.
“There are two options to choose from, depending on your ceremony requirements: for smaller, more intimate weddings, there is the Emma Sheppard Room and for a slightly larger gathering there is the elegant Council Chamber, so more family and friends can enjoy the big day.”
Cllr Anne Hills said, “We are truly delighted to have weddings return to the Town Hall and we wish the happy couple a wonderful life together. The Town Hall has been a little quieter of late, but we hope this is the start of things returning back to normal. There are some more dates later in the year so we hope we can welcome many other couples as we come out of lockdown.”
