FROME Edventure is hosting an online event for young adults this week. The aim is to work with young people in Frome to design a response to the pandemic based on what they want and need right now.
The event, entitled “What Now,” will be hosted by Neil Oliver and take place on Thursday 4th June at 11.30am-1.00pm.
Frome Edventure say, “The pandemic is having a profound impact on young adults in our community. How can we best support young people in Frome right now?
-1 in 3 18-24 year olds, are earning less than they were pre-lockdown*
-10% have lost their jobs altogether (the highest figure of all age groups)*
-3/4 of young people are feeling more anxious and have amplified feelings of low self esteem and poor well being.
-2/3 of the same group are feeling more lonely, compared to 1/5 of 65-74 year olds.
“Add to this the pessimistic projections for the economy and jobs, and we have a toxic mix of factors that could blight the prospects of young people for a generation.
Edventure: Frome’s founding mission is to support young adults to step towards a livelihood that matters to them. Our aim here is to design a response to the pandemic based on what young adults in our community actually want and need. Please join us to share about the impact of lockdown on your life and what would help you move into the future with optimism.
“Without wishing to predict the outcome, possible responses could be:
– A course or courses to support you to move forward with hope for the future
– One to one or group coaching
– Something we haven’t thought of yet!
“If you’re aged 18-35 and living in Frome, please join us. This is an informal gathering. We aim to create a safe space and all participants will be asked respect confidentiality.
“If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact Neil Oliver, director of Edventure Frome on neiloliver@blueyonder.co.uk or 07976 171101.
