WHY’s ‘Jump into June’ campaign raises £19.5k

Cancer counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) is celebrating the success of their Jump into June fundraising campaign, which raised more than £19,500 for their free professional counselling service for people affected by a life-threatening condition.

Among the fundraising activities were a silent auction, a raffle to win a backpack worth £995 donated by Mulberry, a bucket collection at Frome Asda and a ‘toddle waddle’, where pre-schoolers braved the rain for a sponsored walk around Victoria Park. The charity is also delighted to have been chosen as one of the beneficiaries of this year’s ‘Band in a Barn’ event in Norton St Philip. Fundraising and communications manager Gemma Wilkes says, “We’re delighted to have reached our fundraising target for our very first ‘Jump into June’ campaign and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make it a success. The generosity of local individuals and businesses who donated goods and services and the people who bid in the auction, bought raffle tickets or took on a challenge this month has been enormous and we’re so grateful for all the fantastic support we get from our community. A special thank you from us and from Team Clark for the amazing sympathy and support when we broke another record…but couldn’t prove it! Every penny raised will help us meet the growing demand for our service, which supports people through an incredibly difficult yet all-too-common experience. WHY receives no government funding so we rely on community fundraising and grant-making trusts to survive and this campaign alone will pay for more than 443 counselling sessions, just over a month of our service.”
