FROGS are planning a series of short walks in and around Frome between now and late Autumn.
Everyone, young and old, is invited to join FROGS, exploring the open spaces within the town and around its edges. Full details will appear on the FROGS’ website: www.fromefrogs.org.uk as the programme is finalised.
On Easter Sunday 20th April there will be a Spring Flowers walk, starting at 3.00pm at East Woodlands church, led by Duncan Skene.
Dan Lupton will lead a bird identification walk on Saturday 24th May, starting at 9.00am at the junction of Willow Vale and North Parade.
On Sunday 1st June Zoe Hawes will help walkers discover medicinal herbs on a walk starting at the Welshmill Lane end of Welshmill Park (by the playground) at 2.00pm.
Liz Hutchinson, on behalf of FROGS said, “Over the summer and autumn we will also explore the wildlife of The Dippy, the geology of the town, bats, important trees of Frome, moths and butterflies, edible botany and, we hope, badgers. We plan to have some walks aimed specifically at children, including river-dipping, probably in the summer holidays.
“Accompanied children are welcome on the walks, but are the responsibility of their parents or carers at all times. They will also need to be quiet so as not to disturb the wildlife we have come to see!”
Stout footwear is advisable as some paths are uneven and may be muddy. Please bring binoculars or hand lenses if you have them.
Walks are suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs, and dogs on leads will be identified on the website.
There is a charge of £2 for adults, payable on the day, 16s and under are free but must be accompanied by an adult.
