WITH only a couple of weeks to go until this year’s Frome Window Wanderland (Friday 4th March – Monday 7th March), event organisers are excited to announce that workshops are being held at Black Swan Arts over half term, under the guidance of Mel Day.
As well as their usual workshops for making displays for your window at home (remember to bring your window measurements!) they are really pleased to be offering workshops for creating a ‘Community Window’ display for the Round Tower Gallery at the Black Swan.
These are aimed at people who perhaps have not participated before and feel a bit nervous; or if you haven’t got a suitable window or if you live outside of Frome and wish to join in the fun!
To book your free place for these workshops visit the website: www.windowwanderland.com/event/frome-2022
New for this year Frome Window Wanderland have been running workshops with The Pod Charity, Active and In Touch and Oakfield Academy to create a large-scale Community Window at Frome Town Hall.
These have been funded by Mendip District Council through their Community Fund scheme. Lead artist Lucia Harley has been guiding participants in their regular venues to add their own creativity to the display that she has designed.
Both Mel and Lucia’s designs for their Community Windows are based on the theme of ‘Kindness’ as they are partnering with The Good Heart Cafe and their Frome Kindness Festival which runs from 1st-6th of March.
Big thanks go to Black Swan Arts and The Riverhouse Cafe for hosting the Frome Window Wanderland 2022 launch event on Friday 4th March from 5.30pm. Join them for food and drink and a few words before you start wandering!
Free poster packs are also available from Frome Town Council.
They say, “Looking for a half term activity? A limited number of basic packs will be available from the Town Hall reception during half term week, you can pick one up from reception Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5pm (4.30pm on Friday). The packs are basic but Post-script and Ellenbray in town have an abundance of supplies to help your creativity.”
