A group of Members from St Katherine’s Church choir called the Woodlanders will be raising money by putting on a show to raise funds for the village hall.
Sandra Giasford, chairperson of the group said, “When members of St Katherine’s Church choir decided to put on a show to raise money for the Village Hall in 1977, who could have guessed that this group – The Woodlanders – would still be producing a show in 2017 – forty years on?
“Certainly not David Millard, the only founder member of The Woodlanders to have been a part of each show throughout all those 40 years.
“The format of that first show was based on the popular TV programme of the time, The Good Old Days with David Millard acting as The Chairman, providing amusing links and introductions between each of the acts. After forty brilliant years in this role, David has, regrettably, decided that this show will be his last but before hanging up his gavel, he has a surprise planned for the audience to enjoy.”
The show, which is currently in rehearsal, is a celebration of the last 40 years – remembering the people who have been so important through those years. There will be some remembered acts, some new items and something fun for everyone.
As always, profits will go to local charities, with many thousands of pounds donated over the years.
The show will run between 9 and 14 October at East Woodlands Village Hall and tickets are available from Joy 01373 463643.
