Woodlanders Music Hall put on an annual show at East Woodlands Village Hall, on the outskirts of the Longleat Estate, and all profits of the shows are donated to local groups, charities and clubs.
2013 was The Woodlanders 36th consecutive year of raising money by staging a week of Music Hall concerts at ‘The Woodlands Hippodrome’. Over the years more than £100,000 has been raised from the shows with many local charities, organisations and community groups benefitting from the proceeds in this way.
Due to having a tremendous 2013 season it was decided at this year’s Woodlanders A.G.M. to share the sum of £4,000 between the following deserving causes:
• £300 St Katherine’s Church • £400 Kids Out • £300 East Woodlands Village Hall and £200 to each of the following: Life Education – Wessex • FAST (Frome Autistic Support Team) • Active and in Touch – Frome • Mothers Union • Frome & District Day Centre • Frome & District Carers Group
• Wesley Church (restoring historic organ) • Mendip Community Transport • Mells Nursery • CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) • Buy A Brick – RUH Cancer Care • · Frome Memorial Theatre Trust • Bennett Centre • 1st Rode Major Scout Group • Frome Symphony.
Trudi Whittock, on behalf of Woodlanders said, “Our rehearsals are well under way for this year’s show which hopes to be bigger and better than ever. Some of the highlights will be marvellous singers, sketches, dancing and all round family entertainment.
“If you have not seen a Woodlanders show before then you are missing out on two hours of fun and laughter. Why not give it a go this year. Tickets are priced at only £9.00 – come along for a wonderful evening’s entertainment.
