THE Pod charity’s Workshop project ran their first stall in the charity fayre at the Cheese and Grain on Saturday 26th November to ‘great success’.
The stall was run by Pod member and volunteer Tracey Boyland, a regular attendee at Workshop, and raised £172.50 for The Pod. On sale were hand and machine stitched items, bunting, lavender bags, handmade paper, notebooks, candles, lino print cards, wooden etched Christmas decorations and lots more. Each requiring new techniques to be learned and skills developed by members.
A spokesperson said, “We hope to continue selling products at other local craft fayres or markets and individual outlets if possible.” Workshop is a craft skills group for adults with additional needs which runs on Saturdays from 10am-3pm at The Remakery in Welshmill Hub, Parkhill Drive, Frome. It costs £8.50 for half day 10am-12.30pm and £15 full day.
Attendees bring along lunch and have the opportunity to develop confidence, social and independence skills in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. During sessions, members have the opportunity to learn lots of new skills, make friends and experience being in a workshop environment together.
Organisers say, “It is a fun creative group which makes products to sell from almost completely recycled materials.
“At Workshop there is an activity suitable for everyone whatever the level of experience or support needs. Members can come along with 1-1 support if necessary, and the first trial session is free.”
