A truly global campaign, taking place every year on 4th February, World Cancer Day, unites the world’s population in the fight against cancer – and Frome is playing its part.
The event aims to challenge perceptions and work together to reduce premature deaths by 25% by the year 2025. Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 8.2 million deaths. One third of these are preventable, if detected early.
Come along to Frome Medical Practice and help Frome join this global campaign.
World Cancer Day is the ideal opportunity to let people know about the support available locally. Health Connections Mendip has invited local organisations supporting people affected by cancer, to have a stall and let Frome residents know about their good work.
Why not drop into Frome Medical Practice on Thursday 4th February, between 1.30pm and 4.30pm to meet local services and find out about the support they offer? Snacks provided.
Dr Helen Kingston, senior partner at Frome Medical Practice said, “You don’t need to have been affected by cancer to attend. The more people who know about the support available, the more we will be able to support each other as a community.”
The following organisations will be attending and holding a stall: Somerset Prostate Cancer Support, Dorothy House, St Margaret’s, Macmillan Step Up Service, Positive Action on Cancer, World Cancer Research Fund and a local cancer peer support group.
The World Cancer Research Fund will have a stall where you will be able to speak to a Cancer Prevention Champion about healthy lifestyles.
There is no need to book a place – just turn up. To find out more call Health Connections Mendip on 01373 468368 or for local support visit their ‘Directory of Services’ at www.heatlhconnectionsmendip.org
