Come along to a friendly, fun and informative World Mental Health Day event on Friday 10th October, 11.00am-5.00pm at the Cheese and Grain.
Scores of organisations are coming together for the event to let you know about their services. There will be stands from organisations that can help you keep well and improve your health and wellbeing such as health walks, exercise classes and weight management services. Also there to let you know about their work will be services that support people with their mental health, for example Somerset Partnership and MIND.
Not only will you be able to find out about services, but you can also take part in workshops on a variety of topics such as mindfulness, Dementia Friends and yoga.
Throughout the day there will be demonstrations on the stage – you will have the chance to join in with some belly dancing and listen to some live music too. At lunch time there will be free homemade soup and rolls (while stocks last)! Drop in at any time during the day to this free event.
World Mental Health Day on 10th October is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy. It was launched in 1992 by the World Health Organisation.
Dr Helen Kingston, East Mendip GP Federation Chair said, “This event is an opportunity to everyone in East Mendip to come and find out about support within our community.
“I hope that this event will help more people to become aware of the support that is available and how to access this. This will help ensure we can all support each other as a community. It is great that so many different services are coming together to make this event happen.
“If you have any concerns about your mental health and would like some support, make an appointment with your GP.”
