FROME Writers’ Collective member and former Chair of Frome Society for Local Study, Peter Clark, will be talking about his most recent book, ‘Churchill’s Britain, from the Antrim Coast to the Isle of Wight’ at Frome Library from 6.30pm on Tuesday July 5th.
Organisers say, “The book is about places in Britain associated with Winston Churchill: his homes, his constituencies, where he lived, where he worked, where he painted etc.
“One reviewer wrote: ‘It is hard to write something new about Churchill but Peter Clark has succeeded’. The book was nominated as one of the Books of the Year 2020 by The New Statesman. Copies of the book will be on sale at the event.
“Peter is a writer and translator, with degrees from Keele and Leicester Universities, who has written books on obscure writers, but also on Charles Dickens. Two volumes of his diaries have been published and he is currently writing a book on the first British Labour government, which will be published next year with the title The Men of 1924.”
The event is number ‘510’ of the Frome Festival, tickets cost £6.
