YMCA Routes Young People’s Drop-in Centre in Palmer Street has received a cheque for £200 from Jackie Bryant who co-ordinates the Asda ‘Make your vote count’ scheme at the Frome store.
Asda shoppers used their green tokens to vote for three charities and each charity received a donation from the store.
Sue Crisfield, Routes Team leader said, “We would like to thank the Asda shoppers who voted for YMCA Routes – we are so grateful for this money which will be used to develop new and existing services for young people aged 11-25 in the town.”
Routes is open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday for young people to drop in for advice and support on a range of issues such as emotional health, housing and homelessness, benefits and money management, help with applying for jobs and CV-writing.
“Young people are welcome to come in at any time to spend time with friends in a welcoming and safe youth café environment, with free internet access and friendly staff!”
