UNBEATEN boxer Ryan Wheeler is settling into the big leagues now, after coming away with his second professional win last month.
Ryan Wheeler, aka the Somerset Stallion, won a 40-36 points victory over Latvian fighter Janis Puskins on Saturday 13th June.
Since turning professional in October last year, Ryan’s record now stands at two wins, one draw, no losses. His most recent contest was on the undercard of the International Boxing Federation’s bantamweight interim championship fight, won by Bristol fighter Lee Haskins.
Ryan said, “My fight went really well and I went on to win the fight on points, having won every round.
“The whole event was amazing! I felt privileged to be boxing on the world title under card.
“My opponent was tough and threw some big punches looking to score the knock down. I was too fast on my feet and boxed well at range, making it difficult for him to land the power punches.
“Although I won every round convincingly my opponent didn’t stop.
“I would like to thank everybody who come out to support; around 70 Frome people travelled out to watch me and join a few thousand other boxing fans – the atmosphere was amazing!
“I want my family and sponsors Metro Rod and ‘Red Falcon Project’ to know how thankful I am for all the support with funds, and for keeping me on track, motivated, and inspired to be the best I can be.”
Ryan is next expecting to fight in September.
