TWO school pupils from Frome won the local heat of Rotary’s creative writing competition recently.
Abi Thorne, a year nine student at Frome College and Daniel Hopkins, a pupil at Beckington School, won their events after entering alongside students from local schools and other year nine and ten students from Frome College.
The students had to write a style of text of their choice on the theme ‘Reflection’.
Ms Franklin, teacher of English at the college said, “I am very proud of the efforts of my young writers. Their work displays talent and confidence and I am sure that it will serve them well in later years.”
On Tuesday 21st March, Frome Rotarians David Gerhardt and Gerry Atkinson presented certificates to Abi and Daniel at an award ceremony at Frome College.
Both Abi and Daniel spoke to the Rotarians about what inspired their creative writing, and what their interpretation of the theme meant to them.
Principal Gavin Ball said how proud he was of their achievements and how important articulate literacy skills are in all aspects of life.
