Frome Town Youth finished their league season on a high with a superb performance in front of a large crowd at Peasedown.
With news that Eric had hurt his ankle in the morning, Archie volunteered to go in goal and put in a man of the match winning display, only beaten by 2 well taken goals.
FTY showed no signs of rustiness having not played since before Easter and began the game brightly. Max L marshalled the defence and Alfie ensured any Peasedown advances were thwarted and quickly turned into counter attacks.
On one such counter attack, Mackenzie saw a goal bound effort ricochet off the back of a Peasedown defender to open his account. Shortly after, a quick exchange in the middle of the pitch saw Maxsen break through the Peasedown defence to score a left footed goal over the diving keeper.
Credit to Peasedown, who continued to press the ball and pulled a goal back just before the half time whistle.
In the 2nd half, FTY continued to work well together, playing the ball around with confidence and stretching the Peasedown defence. Both Maxsen and Mackenzie doubled their goal tally with Ethan going close from a freekick. Even though Peasedown pulled a 2nd goal back, FTY didn’t panic and were deserving of the final result.
