Owner of Frome’s Enigma Pottery, Jenny Barton, took the plunge and jumped 10,000ft out of an aeroplane on Sunday 2nd June to raise money for the Wessex MS Therapy Centre, raising over £500.
After deciding to jump in honour of a big birthday next year, Jenny took to Old Sarum on Saturday 2nd June to jump 10,000ft in aid of the Wessex MS Therapy Centre.
“It was nerve-racking and exhilarating at the same time,” Jenny told Frome Times. “I was really nervous about actually jumping out but it was easier as I was the last in the plane and the first to jump, so I didn’t watch anyone else jump.. and scream!
“Jumping out of the plane was like jumping into cold water! Falling up to 125mph just takes your breath away and once the parachute is out, you float down.
“The free-fall is just 30 seconds long, but feels like 10 seconds as it is over so quickly. I would definitely jump again, and go higher, up to 15,000ft so you can get up to a minute of falling.
“It’s great to finally have this ticked off my bucket list and to raise money for such a good cause. There were eight of us in total raising money for the therapy centre, including people that actually use the facilities such as a lovely girl in a wheelchair who was amazing.”
The Wessex MS Therapy Centre, offer long-term ongoing therapies for people with multiple sclerosis, their families and carers. It also operates two hypobaric oxygen chambers which are used to help with other conditions including cancer, fibromyalgia, ME, wound healing, ulcers and stroke.
