A RELAXED performance by Vamos Theatre presenting ‘A Brave Face’ is coming to the Merlin Theatre on Tuesday 8th May.
The show ‘A Brave Face’ is set in Afghanistan 2009 and explores post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), an unseen and often unrecognised injury of war, and the impact it can have on even the closest of families. With compassion and fearlessness, Vamos brings its trademark, wordless, full mask style to a story that needs to be told.
A short synopsis reads, “Ryan is there to see the world, learn a trade, get a life. Training’s complete, combat is a buzz. But on one particular hot and desperate tour of duty, Ryan sees things he can’t talk about, to anyone. And when he returns home, the trouble really begins.”
This showing is A Relaxed Performance. This means that the show is open to all, but specifically designed to welcome those who benefit, for whatever reason, from a more relaxed environment, such as people with sensory and communication disorders, a learning disability or autism spectrum condition.
The running time is 1hr 15 minutes with no interval plus a post-show discussion for those who wish to stay on. Recommended for those 12-plus years and is accessible to hearing and deaf audiences alike.
The show begins at 7.45pm. Tickets are £14.50 for adults and £10.50 for concessions and can be bought online via the Merlin Theatre website or through the box office 01373 465949.
