Chefs at Gracewell of Frome welcomed guests to a sensory fish and chips lunch to celebrate its annual Taste of Gracewell campaign, to highlight the importance of healthy eating and nutritious meals for older people.
The Taste of Gracewell campaign – which took place from 12th – 18th March (Nutrition and Hydration Week) – saw every Gracewell home, including Gracewell of Frome, opening its doors to serve delicious meals to their friends and neighbours.
As part of the campaign, Gracewell of Frome hosted a sensory fish and chips lunch, at which guests were treated to entertainment from the talented vocalist and performer David Moss, and had the opportunity to listen to a fascinating talk on nutrition, diet, and hydration.
The special event allowed people to meet Gracewell of Frome’s talented dining team and learn why dining at the home is about so much more than just keeping people fed – it’s about cooking tasty and appealing food that’s nutritious and meets individual dietary needs, too.
As well as enjoying delicious home-cooked food, guests were able to pick up recipe cards comprising a selection of Gracewell chefs’ favourite recipes which provide easy, step-by-step instructions, plus all the nutritional information, giving everyone a chance to recreate a Taste of Gracewell at home.
Debbie Goodsell, home admissions advisor at Gracewell of Frome said, “We all had a wonderful time. The sensory fish and chips lunch was a great opportunity to celebrate Taste of Gracewell and a chance to educate people about the need for a nutritious diet as you grow older.
“We want to thank our dining team who work hard every day to ensure every single resident receives exceptional food which meets their individual needs, and that our residents enjoy the highest quality of care. We are so proud of them. Dining for a lot of our residents is the focal part of the day and it is important that what they are served gives them something to look forward to.”
