Best selling author, comedian and actor Alexei Sayle lent his support to local efforts to bring a world famous Palestinian theatre company to the Merlin Theatre, after he himself played at the Merlin to a packed and appreciative audience the previous week.
Audience member Emily Gerrard said, “I gave Alexei a leaflet after his brilliant show to let him know of our ambitious plans to bring the Freedom Theatre of Jenin refugee camp to Frome during their first ever UK tour this spring. By the weekend he’d sent Frome Friends of Palestine a generous donation for our project which he described as ‘such necessary work’. It’s so encouraging.”
