A NEW exciting all-day music festival featuring 20 of the top touring acts from around the country is coming to Frome this month.
The Cheese and Grain will be hosting ‘All Roads Lead to Frome’, on Saturday the 20th of August
“For one day only, we’re delighted to be bringing 20 of the top touring acts from around the country to Frome,” explained Tracey Rawlins from the Cheese & Grain.
“The event, covering two stages, will be headlined by folk singer, barefoot troubadour and cult legend Beans on Toast, who provokes thought on subjects from Prince Harry to popcorn, from romance to riots, from friendship to fracking. He promises simple songs, with no holds barred honest lyrics and quick wit.”
Beans On Toast is joined by his Xtra Mile Recording label mate Sam Duckworth, making his much anticipated return to Frome having also played main stages at festivals including Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds under his old name ‘Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly’.
Now with a new name, Recreations, he is set to blaze a new trail but with the same great talent for producing catchy, relevant, politically charged acoustic musical magic.
Another hightlight will be Chris T-T, one of the UK’s finest songwriters and critically acclaimed underground artists who has played 2,000+ live shows around the world including Edinburgh Fringe and the fourth plinth at Trafalgar Square
It’s not all just solo acts playing the event, London based, but with roots all over the U.K, genre spanning punk outfit Ghouls are an energetic five-piece known for their manic stage antics and sweat-inducing live shows. An infectious blend of punk and rock driven by a horn section, they always get crowds on their feet and whipped into a frenzied party.
Other highlights include popular solo acoustic act Oxygen Thief, last seen in Frome supporting Frank Turner and pop punk rockers Montroze – the Cheese & Grain battle of the band winners – who have been making waves across the UK and further since winning their crown. Currently on tour in Canada this will be their first show back in the country.
Joining them will be Sean McGowan who breathes new life into political music sense, with his fresh and brutally stark and honest take on modern life. He is tipped for a great future by many including by the legendary Billy Bragg.
Ahead of his trip to play the now legendary “Fest” in America, Brightr brings his obscenely catchy choruses and massive hooks with his own take on rock driven acoustic pop back to the venue he started his solo career at.
The line-up also includes Sickones, Follow The Sun, All Ears Avow, With Ghosts, Tuskens, Restless Wrestler, Phil Cooper, Henry Wacey, Mike Barham, Jack Moore and Left Out with more acts still to be announced.
