FROME Carnival is calling on people of Frome to get working on their floats and displays for this year’s Carnival on 22nd September.
Chair of the Carnival committee, June Barnes, says she is particularly eager to see more entries from schools and children’s group, with a dedicated children’s procession in the afternoon.
Floats and walking groups are also encouraged to get working on their displays for the evening procession.
June says, “You don’t even have to have a float, just dress up and come and enter as a group. Even if it’s simple and doesn’t cost a lot, it could be a really good entry!
“There’s prize money at the end of it, you can advertise your group, and it’s good for the public to be entertained. There’s lots of different occupations for people to get involved in, from decorating to dressmaking, and it is good fun!
“To get into the programme we need to have entries by the middle of August, but there’s nothing to stop you entering after that!
“I’ve seen in the paper that quite a few schools have been dressing up for things – maybe they’d like to bring that to the Carnival!”
Entry forms are available at www.fromecarnival.org.uk or Ellenbray in the town centre. For more information on putting on a float, contact June Barnes on 01373 641625.
