A DEBATE on the upcoming EU referendum will be held at Frome Assembly Rooms next Wednesday 15th June at 7pm, with two members of European Parliament on the panel.
On 23rd June, the UK goes to the polls to decide whether to remain part of the European Union, but do you know enough to make an informed decision?
A free event in Frome on Wednesday 15th June at 7pm, will give people the opportunity to quiz two Members of the European Parliament for the South West region, and hear their very different views on the EU and the referendum.
Dr Molly Scott Cato and Dr Julia Reid will be taking part in the debate. Molly Scott Cato (Green Party) is an economist and writer who has campaigned for green politics all her adult life. Molly is leading the South West Greener In campaign, making the environmental and progressive case for remaining in the EU.
Dr Julia Reid (UKIP) is a research biochemist by profession and was formerly Head of Academic Research/Laboratory Manager of the Diabetes and Lipid Research Laboratory at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. She is a prominent campaigner for the Leave campaign in the South West.
Members of the public are invited to email their questions for the two MEPs to eufrome@gmail.com and can also submit questions on the night.
The event will be independently chaired by Lisa Millard, assistant principal at Frome College.
Entry is free, with donations to cover venue hire welcome – surplus will go to local charities. Doors open at 6.30pm, and the bar will be open. The event is organised by East Mendip Green Party.
