STAFF at the Frome branch of Argos are preparing for an eight- mile walk to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The eight-mile charity walk will start from the Argos store and take them on a circuit of the outskirts of town, before returning to the store. Frome store charity champion Xanthe Anderson said, “Macmillan is a massively important charity. Cancer is something that directly or indirectly affects half the population and they are there to support patients, family, friends and carers on everything from physical and mental health to financial worries.
“Personally, I currently have two people in my life who use Macmillan’s services and I’ve been onto their website as well. Even knowing others are out there feeling the same things as you can help, and every single pound that we raise goes towards having a Macmillan nurse available to someone in need.”
The participants are already well prepared for the day, with life in the store keeping them fit and active. “Our staff walk around in store, collecting and putting away items, this is their everyday workout. Also, several of our staff walk to and from work as well, and with the hills of Frome, I think they’ll be all set.
“We are collecting money in store from now until the event and we will also have collection tins with us as we walk around. We are really hoping to raise a decent amount for this brilliant charity.”
The walkers will set off on Sunday 16th July at 10am. For details about the route, please visit the Argos store for more information.
