Local artist Paul Newman will be holding an exhibition of some of his work at Cafe la Strada until 30th September.
Paul said, “I have lived in Frome for just over a year and this is an exhibition of older original pieces alongside prints of more recent drawings.
“Since moving to Frome, I have exhibited at open shows with the Society of Graphic Fine Artists in London, The Royal West of England Academy in Bristol and have won the drawing prize two years running at the Bath Society of Artists Annual Open Exhibition.
“I work exclusively in graphite, producing detailed responses to human-made and natural forms in Wessex. Surface, texture and shade are key components in the work, with influences by artists such as William Blake, Samuel Palmer, Paul Nash, Eric Ravilious, Fay Godwin and David Inshaw and the writings of Thomas Hardy, Ted Hughes and Roger Deakin. Original drawings and prints will be for sale.
