BATCOMBE Film Society will be screening ‘Lion’ on Friday 8th December at the Jubilee Hall.
The 2016 Academy Award-nominated film is set in the year 1986 and follows the story of five year old Saroo and his older brother, two poor boys in West Bengal who one night become separated and Saroo finds himself on a train heading to the other side of India.
Unable to get back and homeless, he is placed in an orphanage and then adopted by an Australian couple played by Nicole Kidman and David Wenham. Twenty five years on, Saroo (Dev Patel) becomes obsessed with finding his long- lost family and returning to his first home. Outstanding performances, visually stunning and a captivating story.
