FIRST and Seventh Frome Beavers enjoyed an unusual camp over the February half term holiday, when they slept over at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovil.
A group of 40 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and leaders visited the museum on Saturday 18th February, before they stayed the night – sleeping right underneath Concorde!
One Beaver, Kizzi said, “My favourite bit was when we got to make model planes and fire them from a catapult. It was really good. It was exciting to camp under a real plane for the whole night too!”
Lexi recalls, “It was great fun and but I didn’t get much sleep because I was so excited!”
The Beavers spent the day looking round the museum, which houses over 90 aircraft from the flying arm of the Royal Navy. They took part in a model aeroplane flying competition, watched the movie ‘Planes’ and had hot chocolate before sleeping overnight under Concorde.
The Beavers would like to thank the staff at the Fleet Air Arm Museum for making them welcome, and all the leaders who made the trip possible.
1st and 7th Frome Scouts are keen to recruit more adult volunteers to help run the activities programme.
