Fair Frome, which runs the Frome Food Bank and other projects to help those in acute need in the town, are running a pop-up shop in the Westway Precinct from Saturday 18th July.
There will be an emphasis on pre-loved school uniforms and sports kit at very reasonable prices, and designed to help families struggling with the costs of the annual return to school.
In addition there will the usual bric a brac and other items on sale.
Fair Frome have welcomed the support of local businesses in their fund-raising drive.
In a scheme delivered by volunteers local businesses have agreed to hold collection boxes to raise funds for the charity.
Businesses signed up in town so far include: The River House, The Cornerhouse, The Three Swans, La Strada, Old Bath Arms, Castello, Ladbrokes, Post Script (Stony Street), The Meadowside Café in Badcox and Paccomora on Catherine Hill.
Wendy Miller Williams, volunteer coordinator for Fair Frome said, “Running Fair Frome and ensuring we can continue our work costs money.
“We are indebted to the many organisations and individuals who already help us but we want to ensure the services we provide are sustainable and continue to grow and improve.
“Volunteers are a core part of the Fair Frome ethos and this new scheme is run by them with our support. We have been delighted by the response so far from local businesses and if any others are interested we would love to hear from them at info@fairfrome.org. Also if any individuals wish to donate online or regularly, they can do so at www.localgiving.com/ charity/fairfrome.”
