Mells C Of E VC First School have just received a delivery of new books to help support their imaginative ‘Roarsome Readers’ literacy programme.
The gift from the Rotary Club of Frome forms an extension of the club’s work with the Frome Reads campaign. This is one of the many local charities supported by Frome Rotary through fund raising made possible by the generosity of the communities of Frome and surrounding villages.
The school’s executive headteacher, Claire Chantler, thanked Rotary Club president, Chris Page, for the gift. Chris then helped teaching assistant Sarah Atkins, and children from years 2, 3 and 4 unpack the box of books and commented how impressed he was with the enthusiasm the children showed, and the importance of encouraging new generations to read.
