If you haven’t got this Saturday, June 10th, deeply engraved in your diary you could miss out on what’s promising to be a brilliant day.
For that’s the date of Buckland Dinham’s annual Village Day which this year marks a special anniversary – it’s 120 years since the birth of that most beloved of children’s authors, Enid Blyton.
And, as you’d expect on such a day, there’ll be lashings of things to do, games to play, food to eat, prizes to be won, animals and birds to pet and admire, hot dogs to nosh on, music to enjoy and much more besides.
In fact this year’s event has more packed into its programme than ever before—and there’s something for everybody to enjoy, whether you want to relax with friends and family after enjoying the now traditional shared lunch, (you will need to book in advance as places are limited (details from Sara Corbett, willigogs@outlook.com), have a go at the tombola, wash a slice of home-made cake down with a glass of real ale or traditional cider, leap on to the bouncy castle (sorry, grandma, it’s children only!), or watch the visiting Morris dancers before taking your seat in the Village Hall to listen to some the best local musical talent around.
Everything gets under way after the shared lunch (have you booked your place yet?) at 2.30 with the children’s Enid Blyton-themed fancy dress competition and ends with hot dogs and an evening of live music in the Village Hall.
The annual Village Day photo quiz is already up and running with a £25.00 dinner voucher from the Bell to be won (many thanks again Nick and Karen!). Entries cost £1.00 each and forms are available from the Bell.
