Millers in Frome has donated £210.60 to the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA). The money was raised over the last year from the sale of 5p plastic carrier bags.
Owner, Richard Macey said, “We implemented the scheme in October 2015 in line with the change in the law, and even though we are only a small business, it seemed like a great way to reduce the amount of plastic that the shop was creating.
“Last year we raised £129.98 for Dorothy House, and this is an ongoing project so we will be raising money for a different local charity each year. Since we started the 5p charge, we have reduced our carrier bag use by 80-90%, which is fantastic news for the environment.”
Lara Battersby, DSAA communications assistant said, “We would like to thank Millers in Frome for supporting us with this fundraising initiative. The funds raised will help towards our operational costs and providing our vital service to the people of Dorset and Somerset.”
