Another wonderful community lunch and good old-fashioned knees-up was had at the Frome’s Big Christmas Get-Together on Christmas day. report organisers.
“Hosted again at Frome Town Football Club, volunteers came together for the ninth year running to organise everything from food, transport, gifts, entertainment and most importantly, company for guests. Over 220 three-course lunches were prepared, cooked and served, including some home deliveries and drop offs to the YMCA and the Community Fridge.
“Lunch was followed by a visit from the Mayor, Mark Dorrington and his family, a festive raffle, entertainment and carol singing and then the day was finished off by watching the Queen’s Speech together on a big screen.
“For one guest it was the first Christmas in 11 years that they hadn’t been on their own. Both guests and volunteers appreciated the connections they made on the day and getting such a warm welcome from strangers. As one lady said “I was so happy to see that people still care.”
“Without the support of the following amazing local businesses and organisations (and many more individual personal donations), Frome’s Big Christmas Get-Together would not be able to happen:

The event really showed how when we extend the hand of friendship to those in need we can really change lives. We went to bed with grateful and fulfilled hearts on Christmas Day, as we so enjoyed being part of The Big Get Together.
