THERE’S plenty of entertainment and live music in store at Frome’s Memorial Theatre in March.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes will be bringing his Mad, Bad and Dangerous show to Frome on Saturday 2nd March. Spend an evening in the extraordinary company of Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE – ‘the world’s greatest living explorer’ – as he goes beyond his record-breaking achievements to explore the man behind the myth.
Sir Ranulph has circumnavigated the surface of the globe from pole to pole, became the first person to cross the Arctic and Antarctica on foot, broken countless world records of endurance, and discovered the Lost City of Ubar in Arabia. Now, he has a new challenge. Live on stage, Sir Ranulph will share stories from his legendary exploits and adventures, telling untold tales of the world’s most extraordinary feats of daring and exploration.
Ivo Graham will be bringing his Organised Fun show to the town on Friday 8th March. After dismantling a barge, doxxing himself in the Doubletree, and blanking on the 1992 Ipswich Town crest (Taskmaster, Off Menu, University Challenge), Ivo ropes his audience into more chaos against the clock. “Humiliation’s your thing, right?” his brother asked him at Christmas, and, with the full existential ramifications of that still being processed, he’s lining up a show with more risk than ever before (NB: previous shows have broadly been quite low risk). Expect quizzes, tangents, and fluster.
Mark Bruce Company, Frankenstein – A Double Bill will take place on Friday 15th March until Saturday 16th March. Bruce presents his surreal and timeless adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel, Frankenstein. Alchemy and science collide as Dr Frankenstein, goaded by an otherworldly entity, unlocks the secrets of the creation of life.
Jonathan Goddard plays the role of Frankenstein’s tragic monster, sewn together from the shreds of humanity, rejected and wandering in a timeless landscape, beautifully portrayed in this profound and deeply moving production. Frankenstein features evocative music from Chopin, Penderecki and Arvo Pärt. Frankenstein is preceded by a shorter work, Liberation Day. A powerful, contemplative dance work about life, love, and the passing of time, danced to songs written by Bruce.
A children’s Easter party will round off March events on Sunday 31st March in the Assembly Rooms. 2.30pm until 5pm. All children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Party dancing with PDJ disco.
Prizes to be won. Meet the easter bunny. Easter egg for each child. Raffle. Chicken nuggets and chips for the kids included in the price. And an Easter cake. Adults are welcome to purchase food. Tickets available from the box office or online
