FROME Friends of Palestine raised £4,100 for the charity Medical Aid for Palestine following the success of two events.
A spokesperson for the group said, “The money will go to support medical teams fighting to provide medical support in the context of the dire situation in Gaza caused by the continuing Israeli offensive.
“In the first event, 70 people attended a ‘Dine for Palestine’ meal held on 9th March in Trinity Hall which raised in excess of £2,300. In the second event a week later, a jumble sale, also at Trinity Hall, saw many people provide a large amount of high quality goods which, along with some generous cash donations, raised over £1,800.
“The generosity of so many people shows that many are appalled by the desperate situation faced by so many Palestinians in Gaza and are determined to do all they can to ameliorate the suffering.”
