A TOTAL of £31,391 in funding has been awarded to 13 local projects by Frome Town Council’s newly-established grants committee.
In a meeting of the grants committee on Wednesday 30th August, 16 local projects were discussed, with councillors agreeing to fund 13 of them.
Organisations awarded the top tier of funds includes Black Swan Arts/Frome Window Wanderland, £3,000, and this year’s Frome Carnival, £3,000.
Other organisations awarded funds include; The Good Heart Warm Spaces, £2,992; Broadway Community Gardens Association, £2,990; Frome Neighbourhood Network, £2,829; The Good Heart, Youth programme – Kindness Festival 2024, £2,970; Frome Independent (TFI) Night Market – 10 years of TFI, £2,500; Frome Festival, Frome Festival 2024 – event facilitation fund, £2,500; Purple Elephant Family Support, Toy Library lending service relaunch £2,310; Frome Town Band, Frome Town Band beginners project, £2,000; Mothership (Caravan Arts CIC), Inside Out £1,600; The Equivalent Project CIC, Equine therapy for mental health intervention £1,500; and Single Mothers United Together (Good Heart), Single parents cooking together £1,200.
The organisations that had applied for funds but were not awarded grants this time were; Frome Open Art Trail, the art trail during the Frome Festival, (requested £1,500); Caravan Arts CIC, community gardens project (£3,000); Edventure Frome CIC, Business Breakfasts – Building a Business Community Network, (£3,000); and Sustainable Frome on behalf of Frome Neighbourhood Network, Transition Streets Frome, (£2,829).
Chair of the grants committee and mayor of Frome, cllr Philip Campagna said, “We have funded a really exciting array of projects which are in line with our strategic objectives but in this instance, we were unable to fund everything. It is really important that the projects that we fund are in line with our strategic objectives as a council and we are committed to working with community groups and organisations in a number of ways beyond funding to support projects to come to fruition and will welcome renewed and revisited applications.”
