FROME’S amateur orchestra, Frome Symphony, will be performing on several dates this year at the Cheese and Grain.
A spokesperson for the orchestra said, “Frome Symphony has bounced back from the pandemic with a crescendo of exciting music to delight the ears of Frome residents. Planning for the coming year of concerts is proceeding apace with gigs at the Cheese and Grain on 12th March and 9th July already booked.
“Conductor Mark Gateshill will be putting the orchestra through their paces at 7.30pm on Sunday 12th March with a concert of romantic music from across Europe. It will kick off with the ravishing suite from Tchaikovsky’s music for his Sleeping Beauty ballet.
“This will be followed by Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite from which many will recognise The Hall of the Mountain King. The concert will be rounded off with the majestic First Symphony by Rachmaninov. This monumental piece seems to touch every emotion from stormy to serene to celebratory and triumphant. It may not bring the Cheese and Grain roof down, but it will surely bring the house down!”
Mark Gateshill said, “There is definitely something here for all the family, so please come and join us!” Advance tickets can be obtained from www.frome symphony.org.uk
