In their new home in the Wallbridge area of Frome, Curves members are enjoying the same friendly, motivating and sociable atmosphere where women of all ages can workout to improve their fitness, tone-up and lose weight…and all in 30 minutes!
“The exercise circuit at Curves consists of hydraulic resistance machines for the upper and lower body and recovery stations, moving along every 30 seconds to music,” explains owner Sandra Van Russelt. “It’s a complete body workout that includes warmup, strength training, cardio, cool-down and stretching – which means you build the total-body strength that makes everyday activities so much easier.
“There are other benefits too…With regular strength training, you not only gain muscle but you also lose fat and the beauty of strength training is that it boosts fat burn even when you’re not exercising, through increasing your resting metabolism and by rebuilding muscles used. The resistance machines help to strengthen bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis and to support joints by developing the groups of muscles that surround them, easing joint pain.
“In addition, it has been shown that those who commit to regular resistance workouts have improved self-esteem… improvements in health, weight, mood and energy- all things to feel good about!
