THE Frome Times’ ‘Person of the Year 2012’ competition is now open, and it is time for you to make your nominations.
People are being asked to put forward their Person of the Year 2012 nominations, the only condition being that the person is from Frome or one of the surrounding villages or works in the town; and that the person has not previously won this award.
Frome has many individuals who work hard throughout the year to help other people, improve their town or raise money for charity. Or perhaps your nominee has shown acts of bravery, or offered voluntary services which have benefitted the local community?
Ian Drew, editor of the Frome Times said, “This is a chance to nominate someone who deserves recognition for their outstanding actions over the past year or who has had the biggest impact on life in the town.”
Last year’s award went to Peter Smith, the chair of the Friends of Frome Hospital, who led the hospital’s Centenary Appeal, which raised over £700,000 for the new hospital which opened in 2008.
Previously, the award went to street cleaner Mike Hall in 2010, who over the previous six years, had kept the streets of Frome clean and tidy; and Memorial Theatre stalwart Humphrey Barnes, the inaugural winner in 2009.
Nominations can be made by filling out the form inside this week’s paper on page 25 and returning it to the Frome Times c/o Absolutely Fabulous, 20 Bath Road, Frome. BA11 1DJ.
Alternatively, you can email frometimes@btconnect.com stating your name, address and contact number with your nominee’s name and why you are nominating them. (We won’t disclose who has made the nominations).
• Nominations must be received by 5.00pm on Thursday 10th January. The shortlist of nominees will be published in the next issue, which will then be put to a public vote.
