IN November 2016, Frome Writers’ Collective launched its ‘Silver Crow’ imprint with the publication of its first title, Nikki Copleston’s West Country detective novel, The Shame of Innocence. Since then, Silver Crow has added children’s, young adult and general fiction titles in various genres, plus memoir.
Now, with a total of sixteen books in print, the imprint is celebrating its fifth birthday with two very different publications: Nikki’s latest murder mystery and Gill Ingram’s second fantasy adventure story for children – Gill Ingram is the pen name of Frome writer, Gill Harry.
The Promise of Salvation begins with the discovery of a child’s skeleton, identified as that of a little girl who went missing many years ago. DI Jeff Lincoln hopes there will finally be an answer for Yasmin’s grieving mother, but the high-profile murder of a local playboy-turned-art-expert soon takes priority and Lincoln has to field interference from an unsympathetic new boss. Meanwhile, across the country in Essex, Lincoln’s love-interest Trish has problems of her own…
The first two books in Gill Ingram’s ‘Zoe’ series, are an exciting and humorous blend of real-life and fantasy – presenting problems for Zoe to solve. In Zoe and the Ancient Egypt Adventure, new boy Kal joins her class and quickly gains the reputation of a liar, on account of his exaggerated tales about his unlikely travels and adventures. Like everyone else, Zoe doesn’t believe the stories and tries to avoid Kal. But when her mother makes plans to befriend him, they are thrown together. Zoe fears becoming unpopular too, but what actually happens is something she can hardly believe herself . . .
Silver Crow will be launching these books at Frome’s Masonic Hall on 12th November and both titles will be available from Winstone’s Hunting Raven bookshop. In addition, both authors will be selling and signing their books in the doorway of the bookshop: Gill on the morning of November 13th and Nikki on November 20th.
“If you have a crime fiction fan or a keen reader aged seven plus to buy for, both titles would make great Christmas presents,” say Silver Crow.
